The Birth
Matcha delivered on her second heat — the ideal window for a first pregnancy. At just under two years old and 55 lbs of pure muscle and love, she was in peak condition. Carter, her 12 lb curly-coated sire, was three months her senior and in his prime — the perfect match in timing and temperament.
The birth was remarkably smooth — all 11 puppies arrived within a few hours, each one big, healthy, and vigorous from the very start. This will be Matcha's only pregnancy.
A standout milestone: the pups began eating solid food at just 5 weeks old, well ahead of the typical timeline — a testament to the strength of this litter.
From day one, the puppies have been raised on ultra-premium grain-free dog food, bone broth, fresh goat milk, and cooked whole foods — sweet potato, beef, lamb, and mackerel. We also feed raw beef, meaty beef bones, and local pasture-raised eggs straight from the shell — a complete raw protein source with natural enzymes, healthy fats, and biotin. We incorporate organic kelp for thyroid health and coat luster, raw goat's milk kefir for gut flora, and ground flaxseed for omega-3s. They are pee pad trained and have been socializing daily with their mom Matcha, their dad Carter, auntie Mochi (Matcha's twin sister), and our three resident cats.
